Shane’s Fourth Court Experience

Shane formerly served for 10 years as a Staff Attorney for the Chief Justice of the Fourth Court of Appeals. As a Staff Attorney, Shane participated in the drafting of more than 300 legal opinions and memoranda for the 4th Court of Appeals. His appellate experience there involved a wide range of legal issues, including governmental immunity, personal injury, medical malpractice, insurance defense, commercial litigation, probate, family law, and criminal law. While serving at the 4th Court of Appeals, Shane also worked as an Adjunct Professor for Saint Mary’s University School of Law in the capacity of Moot Court Advocacy Coach.

Shane’s Private Practice

After Shane’s experience with the 4th Court of Appeals, he and his wife began a private law practice dedicated to appellate law throughout the State of Texas. Shane’s civilian practice includes representing both civil and criminal litigants in state and federal court. He has represented clients in direct appeals, interlocutory appeals, and original proceedings. Shane has argued multiple appeals and successfully assisted his firm’s clients in resolving their cases without the need for litigation. He is presently a member of the Texas Bar and its Military and Veterans Law Section. Shane is also admitted to practice law before the United States Supreme Court, multiple federal Circuit Courts of Appeals, and several other federal and military tribunals.

Shane received his law degree, with Honors, from Albany Law School. He attended undergraduate school at Skidmore College, where he was the starting shortstop for the Skidmore Thoroughbred baseball team.

Shane’s Military Service

Shane, like his father and both of his grandfathers, recognized the importance of service to our nation. After becoming a lawyer, he joined the United States Air Force. He is currently a Major in the United States Air Force Reserves, working as an Assistant Staff Judge Advocate General. In that capacity, Shane has served as a military prosecutor in court martial proceedings, a legal advisor to commanders, and most recently as a disability counsel representing service members who are going through the disability evaluation process. He has also provided legal assistance to military, civilian, dependent, and retiree personnel from all branches of service.

Shane’s Family

Shane is married with children. He met his wife, Kim, while they were both working as attorneys at the 4th Court of Appeals. Kim and Shane have two young children, Quinn and Sawyer.

He enjoys helping his children raise show animals for their Kendall County 4-H projects and spending time with his family raising farm animals, hunting, and fishing on the family’s Hill Country ranch.

In addition, Shane enjoys training mixed martial arts and muay thai kickboxing. He is also a small business owner (unrelated to his law practice). Shane has been a volunteer for multiple organizations within his Kendall County, Texas community, including serving as a member on Congressman Chip Roy’s TX-21 Veteran’s Advisory Council and the Zoning Board of Adjustment for the City of Fair Oaks Ranch.
